With a rapidly increasing residential and commercial base and business-friendly environment, Van Alstyne is fast becoming a destination for companies looking to open new locations or expand their footprints. As a result, United Ag & Turf CEO Brody Pettit has announced that his company has purchased land and will bring John Deere to Van Alstyne.

United Ag & Turf has 29 locations across Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas, servicing the agriculture sector, the landscaping industry and residential homeowners alike. The Van Alstyne location will be the company’s largest yet, set to encompass 45,000 square feet of space to include new and pre-owned sales as well as a large, full-service bay. The facility will be situated on 12 acres on Highway 75 just north of County Line Road. The new operation will be the largest in the United Ag & Turf portfolio and United Ag & Turf is one of the top-10 largest John Deere dealers in all of North America.
“Van Alstyne is primed for incredible growth and we look forward to being a part of all that," said United Ag & Turf CEO Brody Pettit. "Our vision for this project is long-term and we are extremely excited to begin construction on our new facility as soon as possible.”
United Ag & Turf currently has two local locations in McKinney and Sherman but will close those sites and consolidate all operations in Van Alstyne. All current employees will be transferred to Van Alstyne or relocated to a Dallas administrative office and small landscape store in that region.
A move of this magnitude is not often possible without the help and backing of the City and it is here that Van Alstyne showed its willingness to embrace new business, offering a strong financial benefits package to incentivize the move. Van Alstyne City Manager Lane Jones was instrumental in making the project a reality, aided by the full backing of the Van Alstyne City Council.
“Both United Ag & Turf and John Deere are respected brand leaders in their industry and fit well into the city’s commercial development plans,” said Jones. “We are excited by the scope of this project and the level of professional management that they will bring to Van Alstyne.”
The Van Alstyne Community Development Corporation, a non-profit 4B corporation funded by public sales tax dollars, worked with Pettit and company to help make the proposed project a reality. VACDC assists the City in its commercial and retail endeavors and immediately recognized the major impact a project of this magnitude would have on the City and its business community.
“We’re extremely honored to be able to work with Mr. Pettit and United Ag & Turf,” said VACDC Executive Director Rodney Williams. “The reputation of both United Ag & Turf and John Deere is impeccable and the operation they are bringing will affect in a very positive way the Van Alstyne business community.”
United Ag & Turf plans to break ground on the project before the end of the year and looks forward to opening its doors in early 2021.
